Residential - Roof Insulation Thermal Performance Assessment for SBC/SEEC Compliance

We conducted a comparative thermal analysis of two roof insulation options for residential development (KSA): 10 cm XPS versus 7 cm polyurethane. Using layer-by-layer U-value calculations (Excel) validated in DesignBuilder, Autodesk Revit, and Grasshopper, we tested both the insulation-only case and full roof assemblies against Saudi Building Code 601 (2018) Zone 1 limits and KEO specifications. Results showed the XPS assembly at 0.282 W/m²·K (above the 0.272 limit; non-compliant) and the polyurethane assembly at 0.263 W/m²·K (compliant). Deliverables included traceable calculations, model screenshots, a compliance matrix, supporting lab data, and clear recommendations.
